Greeting Pastor Sharon

Call to Worship Liturgist

Leader: The Good Shepherd is calling

People: We come, abiding in love.

Leader: The Shepherd of Love is calling.

People: We come, living in faith.

Leader: The Shepherd of Life is calling.

People: We hear, trusting in God’s Word.

Leader: Come; Let us worship God.

People: Let us worship the God who seeks us

                when we are lost, loves us even when we fail

                and shepherds us through life.

Hymn “Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us” omit v.4 Ken Potter

Savior, like a Shepherd lead us,

much we need thy tender care;

in thy pleasant pastures feed us

for our use thy folds prepare.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Thou hast bought us, thine we are,

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Thou hast bought us, thine we are.

We are thine, thou dost befriend us

be the guardian of our way;

keep thy flock, from sin defend us,

seek us when we go astray,

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Hear, O hear us when we pray.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

Hear, O hear us when we pray.

Thou hast promised to receive us

poor and sinful though we be;

thou hast mercy to relieve us,

grace to cleanse and power to free.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

we will early turn to thee,

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

we will early turn to thee.

Opening Prayer Liturgist

Great Shepherding God, walk with us this morning in this time of worship and walk with us all the days of our lives. As we sing your praises and worship your holy name, speak to us with your wisdom, call to us and lead us home. Open our eyes and enlighten our minds, that we might hear your word and grow in our faith. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen

Scripture Reading Psalm 23 Liturgist

The Lord is my shepherd;

I shall not want.

He makes, me lie down in green pastures:

He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul.

He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,

I fear no evil: for you are with me;

your rod and your staff comfort me.

You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies;

you anoint my head with oil:

my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life’s,

and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord

my whole life long. We give thanks for these holy words.

Hymn “All I Need Is You” Ken Potter

All I need is you, Jesus, all I need is you.

You are the source of all I need. All I need is you.

All I want is you, Jesus, all I want is you.

You are the source of all I need. All I want is you.

My only hope is you, Lord, my only hope is you.

You are the source of all I need. My only hope is you.

Prayer of Illumination Liturgist

Speak to us Lord, we, your flock, know your voice and are listening. Amen.

Gospel Acclamation ‘”Alleluia! "    Ken Potter

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Gospel Reading John 10:1-10     Pastor Sharon

Sermon “I Am the Good Shepherd”       Pastor Sharon

Hymn “He Leadeth Me: O Blessed Thought”        Ken Potter

He leadeth me O blessed thought!

O words with heavenly comfort fraught!

Whate’er I do, where’er I be,

still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

Refrain:

He leadeth me, he leadeth me,

by his own hand he leadeth me;

his faithful follower I would be,

for by his hand he leadeth me.

Some times mid scenes of deepest gloom,

some times where Eden’s bowers bloom

by waters still, o’er troubled sea,

still ‘tis his hand that leadeth me. Refrain

And when my task on earth is done,

when by they grace the victory’s won,

e’en death’s cold wave I will not flee

since God through Jordan leadeth me. Refrain

Prayers of the People

Holy Communion and the Lord’s Prayer

Leader: The Lord be with you.

People: And also with you.

Leader: Lift up your hearts.

People: We lift them up to the Lord.

Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

The service continues

Leader: And so with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn saying:

People: Holy, holy, holy Lord., God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

The service continues

Leader: And so, in remembrance….as we proclaim the mystery of faith saying:

People: Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.

The service continues.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

The kingdom come,

          thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power,

        and the glory, forever. Amen.

Closing Hymn “Sent Forth by God’s Blessing”     Ken Potter

Sent forth by God’s blessing, our true faith confessing,

the people of God from this dwelling take leave.

The service is ended, O now be extended

the fruits of our worship in all who believe.

The seed of the teaching, receptive souls reaching,

shall blossom in action for God and for all.

God’s grace did invite us, and love shall unite us

to work for God’s kingdom and answer the call.

With praise and thanksgiving to God ever living

the tasks of our every-day life we will face.

Our faith ever sharing, in love ever caring,

embracing God’s children of each tribe and race.

With your grace you feed us, with your light now lead us,

unite us as one in this life that we share.

Then may all the living with praise and thanksgiving

give honor to Christ and that name which we bear.
