June 24 - Annual Conference for the Pacific Northwest
This is happening at the Washington State Fairgrounds in Puyallup in the Showplex Center. You have an opportunity to join us for worship at 10:30 a.m. with other United Methodists through out our area. This service will also be for the ordination of new pastors. It is a powerful one if you would like to join pastor Katie in attending. Al Meeds will be preaching here at Browns Point church at 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. They also need volunteers to remain following the service to help clean up. Rev. Katie is going to meet people back at the church at 1:00 p.m. to go on our hike.
Choir is on summer break.

Arts Festival at Browns Point Town Center - July 7th from 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
We have a signup sheet in the foyer to volunteer. There are lots of slots still open! We are also taking donations of small bags of chips and individually wrapped granola bars. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Rev. Katie.
Point Person Needed
My Sisters Pantry has generously offered to donate their unused food items to our Food Bank. Tina Anton is looking for someone to be available on the first and third Monday of each month between 7:30-8:00 p.m. to receive it! Florentine Hamm is willing to transport the food from MSP to our church. She needs someone here to meet her at church and unload it. If you live nearby and are willing to be on call on Monday evenings for a short time, please contact Tina Anton at email@example.com.
Browns Point Salmon Bake planning meetings
The next meeting is July 10th at 7:00 p.m. This will also be the envelope stuffing party for raffle tickets, so we need all hands on deck to make short work of it. Pizza and salad provided. Rev Katie is looking for a volunteer to join her. Please email Rev. Katie if you can join her.
BPUMC Book Bash
In July the Happy Bookers Book Club will be hosting a Book Bash! Between now and July 8th, we are asking that you bring in any reading books, self help books, craft books, your favorite novel or children’s books that you would like to donate. These books will then be offered to your friends here at BPUMC to add to their libraries! All books remaining will be donated to the Tacoma Public Library.
Phyllis Shoemake’s studio will be open from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. for art classes June 12th and 26th, July 10th and 24th, August 7th, 14th and 28th, September 11th and 25th Cost is $15 per session. Please contact Phyllis Shoemake for further information: firstname.lastname@example.org
Volunteers Needed for Arts Fair at Browns Point Town Center - July 7th
We need volunteers to help set up, break down, and those who would like to stay and help with the crafts. We also need donations of snack size chip bags to be able to handout for a small snack. The fair runs from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Please sign up for a slot on the sheet in the Gathering Area!

Strawberry Shortcake July 1st!
We are bringing back the Strawberry Shortcake on Sunday July 1 and we need your help. This was such a hit last year that we want to bring it back. We will need people to sign up to make the shortcake and bring the strawberries. Whipped cream will be provided. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this wonderful event!
Mondays In July Small Group -The Five Calls of Faith
Join us each Monday in July for small group as we learn about what it means to answer the five calls of faith: courage, compassion, connection, calm and creativity in order to live a wholehearted life. We are using Brene Brown’s book, The Gifts of Imperfection: Letting Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are! Every Monday in July starting at 7:00 p.m. We will meet at the church.
Tacoma Pride Saturday July 14th
We are participating once again with other UMC churches at Pride this year. We will also be passing out cookies. So please sign up using the connection card if you can either drop off cookies and/or volunteer at Pride with Rev. Katie.
Blackberry Bake Off Returns in August!
Last year we had such delicious blackberry treats! We are bringing it back also in August. Details coming soon! Start testing out a new recipe!
