August Sermon Series - Won't You Be My Neighbor


VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
  • What - Browns Point UMC is providing lunch for all kids in our community 18 and under on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 
  • When -- August 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th, and 29th
  • Where - Center at Norpoint near the spray park.
  • Two Shifts Each DayFirst shift is 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This group of 4-6 people will make the lunches and help load cars. We will make sandwiches, package fruit, veggies, and cookies at church. 
  • Second shift - starts at 11:00 a.m. We will serve lunch, clean up, then return to the church to unpack. 

Funds for this project will be provided by our Fish Food Bank/Nourish Food Bank Fund and Metro Parks of Tacoma. Any leftover produce or food will be donated and used at our food bank.

NET Healthy Kids Backpack Program
We’ve been involved for several years and packed 500 backpacks last year! This year our goal is 600 backpacks! Each Sunday we will focus on specific items. Please remember, no peanuts. All donations can be dropped off at the church any Sunday!
  • July 28 - Juice boxes
  • August 4 - applesauce or fruit cups (individual cups)
  • August 11- granola bars / oatmeal packets
  • August-18 - Cup O Soup/individual Chef Boyardee cups
  • August 25 - fruit snacks, crackers, and/or chips (individual snack size)
  • September 1 - individual pudding cups or rice krispie treats

Signups for Summer Music
We are looking for singers and instrumentalists. Accompanist available. Contact Ken Potter at mohken@aol.com if you would like to participate.

August 14-18 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event
Solid Waste Management at the City of Tacoma Government invites the citizens of NE Tacoma to safely & conveniently dispose of household hazardous waste. Many common household products contain hazardous material that requires special handling. Never throw hazardous items in the garbage, down a drain or on the ground. Protect your health and the environment by properly disposing of your leftover household hazardous waste.
  • When? 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 14-18
  • Where? The Center at Norpoint parking lot

Hiking with BPUMC  
Join our hiking group this summer. Two hikes per month have been planned. One on a Saturday and the other on a Sunday. On Saturdays we carpool from the church at 9:00 a.m. and on Sundays we carpool from the church at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome. Join us for this inspirational gathering as we celebrate  Nourish Pierce County, share our vision for the future, and raise critical funds to continue our mission of providing nutritious food and support services to people in need with compassion, dignity and respect.
